A WORD FROM THE PASTOR Welcome to the ministry of Victory Baptist Academy. We are glad to have you as a part of this ministry. The whole purpose of this ministry is to glorify the Lord. Our work cannot be compared to that of a public education, as ours is a spiritual ministry. We will receive double dividends in eternity for the effort expended. Each person needs to realize that he is not working for any person here, but for the Lord. This is His ministry. Much prayer and sacrifice on the part of many have gone into the building of this work. I feel there is a need for each of us to have a spiritual burden for our part of this ministry. For those who are new, ask the Lord daily to sell you on this work. Faculty members need to ask God to give them a burden for their students that they might have an effective ministry for the Lord. Although you have been hired for a specific job, you need to be flexible and willing to do anything. We operate on the principle of everyone working together to get the job done for the Lord. Let your life be a channel through which the Lord can work. (Romans 12:1, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. ) Our personnel should remember that they are role models to our students, and consequently, should always demonstrate a positive Christian testimony. Students will be inspired to live for Christ not only by what they hear in the classroom but also by what they see in our lives outside of the classroom. (I Thessalonians 1:16, And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord. ) In a Christian work such as this, there should be no question about your loyalty. God has called you, and He expects you to be loyal to this ministry. Griping will not be tolerated since it is one of Satan s most destructive tools. Satan hates our school and will do all he can to undermine it. Let each of us refuse to be used of Satan to destroy a good Work. If you have any criticisms, come directly to me or to the principal. Constructive suggestions are appreciated and adjustments will be made if they are warranted. We are reasonable people; and if you feel you cannot continue to work in harmony with the ministry, it is expected that you turn in your resignation to me for approval for release from your contract. We also ask that you pass on any major criticism of the ministry to the administration so that the fault can be corrected. Any personnel has complete freedom to come to the principal or I if he feels the problem warrants our attention. This principle is vital to the health and well-being of our ministry. We do not promote nor tolerate bureaucratic empires within our organization. We must have a healthy spiritual organization. Your spiritual life will determine your happiness and satisfaction in doing the Lord s work, so be on your guard spiritually. Do not neglect having a time alone with the Lord each day, in addition to your home devotions. In closing, let me assure you that we feel God has sent you our way. It is up to you to trust Him in His leading and to know He does not make mistakes. God has blessed this school abundantly, and I am sure He will bless you as you give of yourself to this ministry. Sincerely, Pastor Jerry Beaver Pastor of Victory Baptist Church and Academy ARTICLES OF FAITH EMPLOYMENT POLICIES AND BENEFITS This Personnel Handbook is an outline of the basic personnel policies, practices, and procedures of Victory Baptist Church and Christian Academy. It contains general statements of policy and should not be read as including the fine detailds of each policy, n or as forming an expressed or implied contract. None of these policies should imply that any list is all-inclusive or that the Administration must act in a set fashion in every situation. Victory Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Academy may add to, revoke, or modify policies in the Handbook from time to time. The Administration will try to keep the Handbook current, but there may be times when the policy will change before the Handbook is reprinted. PASTOR/PRINCIPAL The Pastor is the chief administrator of Victory Baptist Academy. He is responsible for the operational policies of the institution. In the absence of the Pastor, the principal or designated staff will assume charge of activities. PRINCIPAL The Principal is directly responsible to the Pastor(Administrator) and is primarily concerned with the supervision and coordination of the activities of Victory Baptist Academy. The principal oversees that responsibilities are carried out properly, efficiently, and effectively by all teaching and aide staff. TEACHERS/STAFF The teachers and staff are personnel; they are responsible to the principal who is the Pastor s representative in academic and disciplinary matters. Staff are non-teaching personnel. Staff members are responsible to the principal. The Administration believes that if a teacher is worthy of teaching at Victory Baptist Academy, then he or she is due the respect of his or her office. It is expected that this same attitude be shown the Administration by the teachers. If the Administration cannot defend a teacher s practice, then the teacher will jeopardize his or her position. Personnel should not criticize the policies of the Administration publicly or to the parents of students, for this tends to breed dissension and cause unrest. We trust that whenever differences arise or whenever change may be needed, the faculty/staff member will talk with the Administration and see what can be done to improve the situation. Suggestions or ideas that will improve job performances or make for better stewardship in the Lord s work are greatly appreciated. Send your suggestions to Pastor Beaver. SALARY Pay is weekly on Friday of each week. JOB RESPONSIBILITY An employee working in two different job areas will be paid accordingly (for example, the employee could work 7 hours as teaching and one hour at another job responsibility. Full time faculty in the Academy will be paid for a full day. All levels of faculty will be paid according to their degree in the subject area which they are teaching. It is the responsibility of all faculty to have an official transcript of their highest earned degree sent to Victory Baptist Church before they begin the school year. Paychecks will be withheld until the transcript is received. NEW PERSONNEL New personnel must check in with the financial advisor of Victory Baptist Church in order to be put on the payroll, to fill our a W-4 form (payroll exemptions) and an I-9 immigration form, and to receive other pertinent information. PAYROLL QUESTIONS Questions regarding payroll matters should be directed to the Payroll and not discussed amongst personnel. 10 MONTH FACULTY 10 month faculty will be paid first on __________, and their last paycheck will be_________________. NAME/RESIDENCY CHANGE If there is a name change (marriage), then the employee should go within one week to the finance manager so that the official records are changed. This is very important to ensure that tax and insurance records are accurate. WORK CONTRACTS Contracts for the coming school year are signed one week within receiving the Faculty and Student Manuals. For example if you receive the manual on April 1st, the contract must be signed by April 7th. It is vital than an employee s word/contract be his bond as a right example of Biblical principles. Decisions of employment or reemployment are between employee and employer and should not be discussed with other personnel, especially during the months of December and January when personnel are making decisions regarding their future. WRITTEN NOTIFICATION It is the policy of Victory Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Academy to give each contract employee written notice that his/her contract for the upcoming year will/will not be renewed. After the initial contract period, future contracts are considered for renewal on a yearly basis. It is understood that each employee will (1) notify the Pastor in writing that he or she will not be returning, or (2) be notified in writing that his or her contract will not be renewed at the end of the contract year, or (3) in the case of a new faculty member, be notified by April 1 that his or her contract will not be renewed at the end of the year. If a faculty or staff member decides not to return to our ministry for the following year, he or she should not convey this to other Church/Academy faculty or staff, or Academy students. TUITION Tuition benefits are provided for contract personnel Tuition is deducted from the teacher s salary. Based on the number of children of one faculty member, if the tuition matches the whole salary of the faculty member, (for instance 4 children=one teacher salary) the faculty member s paycheck will reflect in his or her pay that his or her salaryhas been deducted towards the tuition. LUNCH MEAL Noon lunches are provided Monday through Friday on normal work days for faculty and staff. GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE Faculty and Staff are offered to partake in our Group Health Insurance. For information concerning medical insurance, please contact the church office. SICK DAYS 10 month personnel are permitted 9 paid sick days per year. See Work Policies. PAID HOLIDAYS Paid holidays are Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year s Day, July 4 (for 12 month personnel only), and Labor Day. WORK POLICIES Communication Employment at Victory Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Academy is a sacred trust between employer and employee and should be handled that way at all times. If a problem occurs about which an employee has a doubt, tit is his responsibility to communicate with the Pastor or Principal so that the problem can be solved. Good communication between employer and employee is very vital for all concerned. Satan often tempts God s workers with a bad attitude when they fail to communicate a problem to their employer. We expect all employees to handle their work problems directly with the Pastor or Principal. Spouses should not become involved. The problems should be worked out entirely on an employee/employer basis without members of the family being mediators. ABSENCES Please not, this section is subject to future revision to conform to Federal laws. Notify Principal If you must be absent from work because of illness or for any other reason, you should immediately notify the principal who will get a substitute for you. ABSENCE WITHOUT LEAVE Absence without leave is an unapproved absence from work. An employee who is absent without leave for three consecutive work days is considered as having abandoned his or her position, and his or her separation from Victory Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Academy shall be classified as termination; it is an unpaid leave status. LEAVE DAYS Sick Leave is granted from work for illness. Sick leave days are subject to a doctor s statement of illness or information satisfactory to the administrator/principal. It is a privilege extended to employees, not something earned. Employees are not entitled to sick leave unless they are truly sick and would not be able to perform their job. An employee should not report to work with a communicable disease until released by a physician. An employee should not stay off work all day if he recovers during the day and could come to work. An employee off more than two full days, or the equivalent in regular hours, may be required to bring a doctor s slip upon return to work. Unless medical conditions dictate otherwise, those absent from work because of illness are expected to stay home and take care of themselves so that they can recover and return to normal activity. Therefore, they should not be doing things around the house nor going out in the evenings. Unused sick leave days accumulated from year to year up to six weeks of paid leave. Beginning with the completion of the eighth year of employment, the maximum number of accumulated leave days may increase to a total of eight weeks. Accumulated leave may be used only under the guidelines mentioned above. CHILD S ILLNESS The sick leave days are for the employee s illness. When a parent has to stay home with a sick child (13 years old or younger), one-half day s pay will be deducted rather than a whole day s pay, and the other half day will be taken off the parent s sick leave days for the current year. Accumulated leave days may not be used for child s sickness. If a child is recuperating after an illness or has a cold, try to use a baby-sitter. Of course, if a child has a high fever or such, we do not expect the parent to work. If there is a faculty meeting scheduled and the spouse is home and could care for the child, the faculty member is to attend the scheduled meeting. MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS When it is necessary for you to make medical appointments, try to make them before or after work. SURGERY Before making arrangements for elective or non=emergency surgery, please meet with the principal and pastor for a time suitable for Victory Baptist Academy, if possible. PREGNANCY An employee who is expecting a baby should advise the pastor and principal atleast 2 months in advance of the planned delivery date so arrangements can be made to temporarily fill her position during her absence. Situations that require special consideration must be discussed with the Pastor and Principal as soon as the employee recognizes this need. When the baby is born, the employee is entitled to up to 12 weeks of maternity leave (without pay) The employee will be expected to return to her former area of ministry after her maternity leave unless prior arrangements have been made with the Pastor and Principal to change her employment contract. These arrangements should be made several months in advance of returning to work. ATTENDANCE AT FUNERALS Employees attending a Kenosha/Pleasant Prairie and surrounding areas in a radius of 30 minute distance may do so as an excused absence without pay. FAMILY AND MEDICAL LEAVE After an employee has been employed one year, he or she may be granted 12 work weeks of unpaid leave during the school year for one or more of the following reasons: a. The birth of the employee s child. b. The placement of a child with the employee for adoption or foster care. c. The employee s need to care for a child, spouse, or parent who has a serious health condition(certificate required) The employee may be required to substitute any accrued sick leave for this time off. d. The employee s inability to perform his or her work responsibilities becaue of a serious health condition (certification by a health care provider is required). The employee may be required to substitute any accrued sick leave for this time off. The employee is required to give the personnel office no less than 30 days notice before the date the leave is to begin unless such notice is not reasonably practical. When both husband and wife are employed by Victory Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Academy, the combined number of work weeks of leave to which they re entitled is limited to 12 during any schoolyear for letters a. and b. This would also apply to letter c. above when involving a sick parent. FUNERAL LEAVE After an employee has completed one year of employment, the following provisions are made regarding funeral leave: three days leave with full pay will be given for death of either parent (or parent of spouse), spouse, or children of employee provided distance warrants such time. Three day leave without pay will be allowed for death of brother or siseter. One unpaid day off will be allowed for death of grandparent. If grandparents have reared you, then they will be considered as parents. Spouse is included in provisions for death of a parent only. No other provision for leave is provided. Anytime you hear of a death or a critical illness in the immediate family of one of our students or employees, please notify the Pastor and Principal. VACATION TIMES Most personnel are expected to take their vacations the two weeks of the year when we basically close down Victory Baptist Academy. This year the Christmas vacation will be December 21-28 and January 1. The summer vacation week will be __________ to ___________. Please make your vacation plans at these standard times unless otherwise requested by the Pastor and Principal. WORK HOUR DAY All teachers and staff are required to be at school no later than 7:35 a.m for staff devotions and briefing. Following the morning meeting of all staff, the teachers should then go to their proper destinations, whether it be car duty or in the classroom to prepare for the day. BAD WEATHER If school is dismissed or closed due to weather conditions, faculty may be asked to work in their rooms that day. Staff will work in their respected areas unless otherwise notified. If typical operations close down for the day, we expect to be back to normal the next day, so you need to be ready for work the next day. Please make your plans accordingly. ACCIDENTS When someone is in need of immediate medical attention such as being unconscious, nonresponsive, or has excessive bleeding, 911 must be called immediately. You should also call 911 if the injured person requests that you do so. Following this call, please notify the office who will then be able to direct emergency vehicles and notify the Pastor and Principal. Not all injuries or accidents will require a 911 call. If you are unsure about calling 911, please contact the Pastor or Principal. If you are the only person around the injured, do not leave the injured alone, but BLOW YOUR WHISTLE. If an employee is found to be chargeable concerning an accident involving vehicles or property, or if the accident could have been prevented, then the employee may be held responsible for a portion of the cost of repairs. WORKER S COMPENSATION? JURY DUTY If you are called for jury duty, you need to run in a summary of the days and hours you are on jury duty each time. You will be paid as if you were at work. However, we would expect you to turn your check from jury duty over to the Principal, who will notify the Pastor. If you made more than what we pay you, then you may have the additional amount. PROFESSIONAL ETHICS Employer/Employee Relationship Proper professional relationships develop when those who work under administration call them by their respective title (Pastor, Mrs., Miss, Mr.) rather than their first name. In personal relationships the first name is fine, but in a professional setting such as school and church, a title is better. EMPLOYEE GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE It is the sincere intent of the ministry to be fair and reasonable with all employees at all times; however, in the relationship between employee and employer, problems may develop. It is critical that the proper people be informed when problems develop so satisfactory solutions can result. Victory Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Academy has established a formal employee grievance procedure to enable employees to properly communicate grievances. For the purpose of the grievance procedure, the term employee includes all paid workers except student workers. A grievance is defined as any situation or action that personally affects the individual and is caused by managemnent or administration violating a specific provision of an employee contract, policy, rule, or regulation of this ministry. Employees may obtain a grievance report from the personnel office where he or she may obtain assistance in preparing the written preparation of the report, if requested. Most matters, however, can be resolved informally and would not result in a formal grievance for matters that can be handled through the usual means of communication. The Matthew 18 principal should be the means by which Christian employees should handle matters. Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear theee, thou hast gained thy brother. But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more[ Principal and/or Pastor] that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. Matthew 18:15-17 If the problem persists, the Principal and Pastor will take care of the situation. After the employee has done that without satisfactory results, it would be appropriate to proceed with the formal grievance procedure if the employee desires. ANTI-HARASSMENT POLICIES Victory Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Academy believes that it is a bona fide occupational qualification of this ministry for all of its employees to be born-again Christian believers who freely and uncompromisingly subscribe to the Articles of Faith which are found in this Personnel Handbook. As such, Victory Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Academy must require the immediate resignation of any employee who isnot a born-again Christian, or who cannot freely and uncompromisingly subscribe to these Articles of atih. This policy is not to be construed as harassment, but as absolutely necessary to enable this ministry to continue to serve the Lord in a manner which is in full conformity with its spiritual mission. Victory Baptist Church expects all employees to accomplish their work in a professional and businesslike manner. Harassment of employees by anyone including principal, pastor, co-workers, visitors, or students is a form of unlawful discriminatory behavior and is not permitted regardless of the working relationship. Specifically forbidden is any form of direct, or indirect harassment of a sexual, racial, or ethnic nature. Harassment includes, but is not limited to, unsolicited remarks, gestures , or physical contact; display or circulation of written materials or pictures derogatory to either gender or to racial, ethnic or religious groups; or basing Personnel decisions on an employee s response to sexually oriented requests. Engaging in any act which discriminates against another employee because of race, color, national origin, sex, marital or veteran s status, age, disability, or any other basis prohibited by local, state, or federal laws will not be tolerated. Sexual harassment is improper and illegal and is grounds for immediate dismissal. Any employee wh experiences conduct of this sort or feels that his work environment has become a hostile or offensive place to work should immediately (within 10 days of the incident) bring the matter to the attention of the Principal; or if it is a complaint about the Principal, he may bring the complaint to the Pastor. Complaints received after 10 days will still be investigated, although it may be difficult to verify information after a length of time. Please be assured your concerns will be investigated promptly by the ministry and that the privacy of the complaint and the person accused of harassment will be kept strictly confidential and will only be communicated to others on a need-to-know basis. You will not suffer retaliation for making a report. It is important for Victory Baptist Church that all claims of discrimination or sexual harassment be thoroughly reviewed and investigated so that appropriate steps are taken as necessary. PERSONNEL/STUDENT RELATIONSHIP Proper Professional Relations Salaries, business, or school problems should never be discussed with students or parents. It is unethical to communicate personal problems to any student. Certainly, you do not want to affect a student as to God s will for his life. In the past we have lost students because of personnel conveying their own poor attitudes to students and parents. ACADEMY REGULATIONS It is unethical to encourage or help a student to break a rule or policy of this ministry. Our regulations are what we believe to be right for the well-being of our students in their training process. We should all be thoroughly professional, Christian, and ethical. Personnel participating in or causing students to break regulations will be subject to immediate dismissal. In order to keep Victory Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Academy where it ought to be spiritually and otherwise, it is the responsibility of personnel to report to the administration any infraction of the rules/policies bythe students and any attitudes that are detrimental to the welfare of Victory Baptist Church or Victory Baptist Academy. OFF CAMPUS RELATIONSHIPS We need to keep proper professional relationships with our academy students; therefore, if you teach or work with students, you should not have them visit in your home unless they are family friends or there are extenuating circumstances that are approved by the administration. Students are not to attend social functions with personnel or vice-versa in a dating relationship, at bridal or baby showers, or otherwise. TRIPS Personnel should not take our academy students to visit another school and try to get them interested in enrolling elsewhere. Personnel should not solicit students from the Academy to go on trips in the United States or abroad without prior approval from the administration. COUNSELING Personnel should not do counseling with academy students. This responsibility is reserved for the Principal, Pastor and appointed faculty. All financial matters involving students should be referred to the Principal and financial secretary. INSTITUTIONAL PROPERTY Institutional property should not be taken from any building unless permission is given from the Principal or Pastor. ACTIVITY TRANSPORTATION COSTS All groups-athletic, band, choral, clubs, field trips, etc. must take care of their trip expenses both inside and outside of the Kenosha area. Please include gas expenses in with the trip expense. BICYCLES Bicycles should not be brought into any of the two buildings (including after school or holidays) nor should they block any entrance. PERSONNEL STANDARDS OF CONDUCT SCRIPTURAL POSITIONS Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8 Our personnel standards for conduct have a Biblical basis, which is our guideline for faith and practice. The following are practices that personnel are required to abstain from and are strictly prohibited while being a member of Victory Baptist Church, and/or employed by Victory Baptist Church. Smoking, the abuse of drugs or over the counter medications, and any use of illegal recreational drugs. and the use of liquor in any form. Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. I Corinthians 6:16-17 What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God,a ndye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God s I Corinthians 6:19-20 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living god; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and aI will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out form among them and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. II Corinthians 6:16-17 Dancing: Dancing is the movements of the body to music. I. .Consider the elements of the dance, the crowd, the music, and the body motions. Do these bring glory to God? A. The Crowd: Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. Proverbs 4:14-15 B. The Music: What does the music at most dances really honor? (Be honest!) Usually it is the flesh and its sensual desires. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the LORD. Ephesians 5:18-19 C. Body Motions: What is the most noticeable thing at a dance? Another person s body! Since this excites passions, lusts or immoral thoughts in you, or others, it is wrong. Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul. I Peter 2:11 Gambling: Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not brad? And your labour for that which satisfieth not? Hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Isaiah 55:2 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. I Timothy 5:1 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: I Peter 4:2-4 Attendance at movie theaters, involvement in (or watching) any pornographic materials, worldly home movies or television shows, or other wicked vices on computer Internet on-line services: I will set no wicked thing before my eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. Psalm 101:3 These six things doth the Lord hate; yea , sevem are an abomination unto Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that Deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. Proverbs 6:16-19 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust afterher hath committed adultery with her already in his heart Matthew 5:27-28 It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. I Corinthians 7:2 Rock Music or Christian Contemporary Music Rock Music contains words that appeal to the lusts of the flesh, eyes and the pride of life, and other ungodly attributes. Christian rock, or Christian contemporary music contains the same style of melody, syncopation and beat that the worldly rock music uses to lure people into listening. Can two walk together, except they be agreed? Amos 3:3 God does not walk with Satan. Good cannot be mixed with Evil. Christian Rock and Christian Contemporary music cannot be Godly when it is mixed with the ungodly attributes of Rock Music. Perhaps the two strongest influences today causing worldliness in the Christian community are the impact of inappropriate activities on the Internet and Hollywood video movies. We expect our personnel not to be involved in such activities or watch moves rated PG, R, or X whether on cable, Internet, regular TV, or video. When Victory Baptist Church Members and Victory Baptist Academy Personnel are seen at a video rental place, or movie theater(drive-in also) it can hurt the person s testimony and Victory Baptist Church s testimony. We believe that these practices do not contribute to personal spiritual growth and development and that they hurt the corporate testimony of this ministry. Pornography, premarital sex, extramarital sex, homosexuality, or other sex perversions are against all the principles this ministry stands for. CHARISMATIC MOVEMENT Victory Baptist Church takes a definite stand against the modern-day charismatic movement. We stand against the un-Scriptural emphasis that is espoused by the charismatic movement, the erroneous interpretation of the Scriptures by the movement, and the divisiveness that the charismatic movement often creates. Without meaning to be unfriendly or unkind to anyone, we feel it only fair to say the above at the very outset of our relationship and to let those who are part of the modern-day tongues movement know that they would not fit in at Victory Baptist Church or Victory Baptist Academy. And they were filled with the Holy Ghost, {After Jesus ascension to Heaven, He sent the Spirit upon the earth to indwell all those that would believe on His name from then on. and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. The tongues were other languages, not unknown to the listening ears, but to be known so that the Gospel could be heard in EVERYONE S LANGUAGE. HYPERCALVINISM Victory Baptist Church does not take a hyper-Calvinistic position; therefore, it does not permit any personnel to instruct students in this position or to encourage them to go that direction. A personnel who advocates or promotes this doctrine will not be kept in our ministry. It has been our observation that those who take a stand for hyper-Calvinism tend to spend their time discussing these beliefs instead of accepting their responsibility of witnessing to others. Therefore, Victory Baptist Church does not permit the promotion of hyper-Calvinism. PRESERVATION OF SCRIPTURE Victory Baptist Church stands where our forefathers stood. We believe that God gave the words of Scripture by inspiration without error in the original autographs. God promises that He will preserve His Word; Jesus said, but My words shall not pass away -Matt. 24:35 We believe that God has kept that promise by preserving His Word without error in the traditional Hebrew and Greek manuscripts and that the Authorizzed Version (KJV) is the best translation of the preserved Word ofGod in the English language. We hold it with confidence believeing that it accurately reflects the inspired words of the Hebrew and Greek. DRESS STANDARDS Women-All Personnel and Church Workers To maintain our Christian testimony at school as well as in the community, we ask that our ladies dress modestly and in a respectable manner at all times. It is important that Victory Baptist Church/Academy ladies remember that they are examples to our Academy students and church children and need to maintain a high standard of dress. a. Skirts and slits should come to the bottom of the kneecap, which is the middle of the knee, when sitting or standing. b. Since our academy girls are not permitted to wear slacks at school, we ask our personnel to abide by the same overall policy of not wearing of pants of any sort at school or church(including long-length split skirts that look like slacks) for any reason. c. Women should wear hose when wearing dresses/skirts for special school/church programs. d. Culottes or walking shorts that meet the skirt length standard and which are full may be worn for recreational purposes, such as approved field trips. *In the winter, ladies are encouraged to wear thick tights (NOT JEANS, JOGGING PANTS OR SNOW PANTS) and long dresses/skirts to keep themselves warm, whether during recreation or during school, in church, or at church or school functions. Along with the reading of this Faculty Handbook, ladies are asked to read What In the World Should I Wear by Cathy Corle to understand our Biblical position of ladies dress. If a lady would like other material in regards to ladies dress once you she has read the recommended book, please see the Pastor s wife. e. Although the wearing of multiple earrings has become common in the world, Victory ladies are asked to wear no more than two sets, which should be worn in the earlobes only. f. Ladies are permitted to wear only blouses, sweaters, and shirts with long or short sleeves. Sleeveless tops are prohibited on church/school grounds. g. Collars on all ladies shirts should not be below two fingers from the collar bone. We ask that personnel daughters abide by these policies beginning on their thirteenth birthday. MEN-FACULTY AND CHURCH LEADERS Since our academy boys wear ties and jackets in school and in church services, our men personnel and church leaders should do the same. Men are expected to wear shirt and tie to work and in school and church functions, except for manual work. Men are asked to wear their hair in a neat trim, and to be clean-shaven. Mustaches may be worn, but no beards. FACULTY/STUDENT RELATIONSHIPS Faculty are not permitted to date students they teach. We want all our employees to be examples to our students and to each other. If you are already a good standing, tithing, regular member of an Independent Baptist Church in the area, it will be necessary for you to meet with the Pastor of Victory Baptist Church before your contract can be accepted for the upcoming school year. If you are a member of a church of unlike faith, it will be necessary for you to meet with the Pastor of Victory Baptist Church before your contract can be accepted for the upcoming school year.
